Just recently I realized that I burn through my miles on the treadmill if I'm reading on my iPad without even knowing it. I'm usually at the gym between 8am - 10am and I personally don't care to watch the news or talk shows. It gets boring to me. After awhile, my mp3 player gets old and I spend more time focusing on playing the next song than I do my run.
The one thing that does keep my focused and occupied during my 90+ minutes at the gym is reading! Unfortunately for my bank account, I've been burning through eBooks in 3 days or less. Since I workout twice a day and get in a little reading before bed at night, finishing a 300 page book in a day or two has become quite common for me.
Yesterday I started wondering, if you can borrow physical books from the library, there's gotta be a way to do it with eBooks! Well duh Rose, of course there is!
Thanks to my blogging bud Jennifer over at Green Bay Consumer, she's got all the information we need about OverDrive, a FREE eBook lending service that you can access through your local library (with your library card and pin #)!
OverDrive offers a multitude of choices, fiction and nonfiction for adults, teens and children in both eBook and audio formats. Authors include James Patterson and Stuart Woods, Erin Hunter and Dr. Seuss, Laura Hillenbrand, Stephanie Meyer, E.L. James, Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris and more!

If you are looking to borrow one of the Fifty books, get in line. In my area alone, there were over 1500 on the wait list! You may just want to get it from Amazon, read all 3 books in less than 2 weeks and regret spending the $30...(hahaha, just kidding, they were fun...um..interesting books to read. Unless you are a complete prude, they are not as terribly pornographic as people claim.)
You have the choice of borrowing digital audio books or eBooks. Download up to 10 items and place up to 10 holds. You can also choose to checkout eBooks (not audio) for up to 21 days and you can create a really long wish list. What's super cool about this service is that there are no overdue fines! When your item’s lending period is up the item is automatically ‘checked in’!
I did notice this service is not available in all areas, however, you can go here to see when it will be available in your area!
Also, if you are looking to get a popular title, you will most likely have to wait....awhile.
(It is a FREE service though, so we can't complain too much.)
Thank so much, Green Bay Consumer!
